*Observation:

There are two types of die casters: custom casters and captive casters. Custom die casters are those who create specialized casts for sale to others and captive die casters are those who create castings for their own use in a shop or manufacturing plant.

The automotive sector accounts for more than 40 per cent of the die casting industry in North America. However, die casting is expansive and is used in many other sectors such as construction, agriculture, pulp and paper mills, medical, plumbing, railway and defence. Die casting creates toys, tools, household appliances and items for telecommunication

*Advantage:

CDCA assist Canadian die casters in dealing with government and other interested parties on industry-specific issues, the Canadian Die Casters Association (CDCA) And a new plus Value by this newly moved to joint the Coalition of Canadian Manufactures

It gives the industry a united voice, which today remains effective and important.

Comment for this Activity: by Serge Fortin TradesShows.com

All Associations have annual meetings and CDCA (Canadian Die Casters Association) have theirs in a different place each year and this year was in Toronto. The concept of CDCA general meeting held in conjunction with a mini trade show and a work shop was greatly appreciated by the participants

The event started and each Exhibitor had his 10 minutes of glory by having a chance to present his products and services to an interested audience. This was greatly appreciated by the attendees and it was apparent that each technical person had a broad knowledge of their products and services

The audience appreciated the input of Mr. Jean-Michel Laurin, vice president, Global Business Policy for Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters

Mr. Laurin discussed the newly formed Canadian Manufactures Coalition (Including the automotive, electronics and telecommunication sectors) that have come together to lobby the Government and CDCA recently joined this elite group.

After Lunch (CDCA fed all the participants and everything was on hand and was excellent)

We had a work shop presenter covering: Data driven and activity based methods of understanding products cost

By Mr. Kirkman, president of Die Therm Engineering LLC

This approach results in more accurate costing than conventional coast accounting methods and provides good data for making strategic improvement decisions.

So in general the CDCA personal did an excellent job for that meeting congratulation to:

Murray Abramovitch, president CDCA

Bonny James, executive directors CDCA
